winter sunrise

The view from our bedroom window. Sometimes I forget the lake is there in the winter. It's just so cold. In the summer though. I can't get enough. I'm looking forward to beach time with a toddler this summer. Fun times.

The "illegal" walker

So I just learned that our walker is not recommended by pediatricians...mostly because kids fall down stairs and get into mischief. We don't have any stairs for her to fall down (the door to our ancient cellar stairs is too narrow for this thing to even get close to...) and she's in our sights when she's tooling around. So shhhh, we're going to keep letting her scoot. And the house plants are going to get new homes out of reach.

Helping in the kitchen. Yes, we realize the stove is behind her. Ryan is 2 feet from her face right now and keeping an eye on things. No burns for this kid. When Lu is a toddler, our kitchen in its current state will probably be off limits. Luckily we have doors between every room.

Still working on steering...she tends to veer to the left.

Sneaking away....wait what did I say about letting her use the walker. Shoot, maybe I should reconsider.

"Christmas" morning

Our older more mature selves were cool with doing our "christmas" on the 26th. Thanks everyone for the thoughtful gifts. We're loving the heated mattress pad, Dad. Really takes the edge off those -35 degree nights.
Trish gets introduced to stocking stuffers Towne style.

Wow! Thanks Ben and Trish. It spins AND lights up.

Playing Santa.

Funcle Ben

It was great to see Ben and Trish a bunch on this visit. We stayed with them in Boston/Watertown for a night and it was fun to see where they live, catch up a bit...and get to see more of their dog's tricks. And they even gave up their bed for us. Amazing hosts.
Incredibly a restaurant in their neighborhood makes gluten and vegan food. I would eat that chick pea cauliflower dish for every meal if I could. Boston based folks - go to Red Lentil. Yum.

Traveling all-star

Thank goodness for a happy go-lucky baby. Here she is at the gate waiting on stand-by for a flight to Duluth after our flight was canceled. We feel truely blessed that so far our trips both east and west have gone smoothly and full of smiles.

Sledding with Mimi K

Lucy next to the "Lucy tree".

There was no snow when we got to NH...and then it was soooo cold and windy. We only got some sledding time in just as we were leaving for Boston.

Piano lessons

Kids have to be 4 to start Suzuki...but if you're really serious about musical training, you start you kid out at 6 months. We're working on chromatic scales and christmas carols. Intensive training because we don't have a piano at home. This has to last her until we get back to NH.
