Blizzard and a birthday

We had a snow day today. It was a blizzard out there! Fun to finally have some snow. The 40 mi/hr winds were a bit much for the toddler but we had a good time inside. Boxes were turned into houses, mailboxes and seats. Toys were strewn about and there was some skyping with grandparents.
It is leap day and Ryan's dad (Grandpa Brian) turned 16! Wow. The time flies by....
Here are some of the best from a series that had some discontented outtakes. You'd never know right?! It's crazy how much bigger she is since the last time this little chair was in our living room. (We've rotating things through to keep it interesting.)

Summer child

Last summer Lucy would not go near these glasses. This week they are the coolest things.

Words

Lu has been growing in leaps and bounds. Part of that means being funny and curious. Part of that means getting upset and refusing to go bed for me. And another amazing part of Lu growing up are all of her connections, words, ideas and problem solving.

She understands SO much including that her mittens go in the basket by the door.

I was thinking about her words tonight and marveling at both their central place in her life and their randomness.

Here's the list:

cracker
graham cracker
spoon
yogurt (of the soy variety)
bagel
baby
eyes
nuk
nose
bottle
teeth
phone
book
ball (that's a particular favorite right now)
mama
Hi
Bye
quack
Duck
"Melmo" (Elmo)
Meow
Car (what you drive)
Caw-Caw (what you and your buddy drive in Boston OR what a crow says...)
sock
bubbles
Reva (kids at daycare)
Liam
Jackie

And lots of other words that may be in another language. As soon as we've translated them - I'll let you know what she's saying.

To the moon!

Lu filling us in on her day at school. She has a lot to say these days.

Fashion first.

Ready for the superbowl. It is BYOB afterall. Which could also mean - bring your own bagel....

We're going to the moon! Pillows for comfort (check), helmet (check), sock monkey (check)...

Reading relaxing before school.
