Rock throwing

It was a stunning and beautiful spring day. We walked down a few blocks to the lake.

Jump!

Lu could have thrown rocks all day long. She put her sad face on when we were leaving. That quickly changed after a shoulder ride and a visit with Erin, Frank and Shakira on the way home.

On an unrelated note - we are amazed at how much Lu has grown up even this weekend. New words include "pocket" and "Yah". She is also very interested in helping us with chores. I look forward to reminding her of that later in life.

Other adventures with G & G Erickson

Snicks was a good sport. The poor thing is terrified of our toddler.

High five!

Baking cookies with Grandma

Pam and Brian came to visit this weekend. It was a fun time filling with puddle jumping, napping, reading and baking Lucy friendly cookies.

Taste testing the dairy free chocolate. Lu hasn't had many sweets in her young life. Those chips were a hit.

A few made their way into the batter.

What do I have in my mouth? "nuthin"

Baby wearing baby

Lu has gotten really attached to this Elmo shirt AND to the baby she's carrying. We gave her a sling to carry the baby hands free. I miss that time of carrying her in the moby wrap. She's so much heavier and squirmy now. Still cute though.

Splashing into Spring

It's gorgeous outside and we just happen to have a day at home! Lucy got tubes in her ears this morning which went really well. And she's been a chirpy happy kid all morning. Which called for some puddle splashing. Thanks to the Pearson clan, we have some pretty sweet rain boots for Lucy. I put on my own boots and we headed out in search of puddles. Lucy caught on right away. We also saw some crows, chickadees and a dog. All very exciting.

Beach part 2

This is Lucy after beach day.

Driftwood ladyslipper.

Ice adventures.

What a day....

Beach day in March

It was 50 degrees out today! It felt so warm. We were all peeling off layers left and right. Once Lucy got comfortable on the beach sand - she was really into it. She particularly liked drawing in the sand with driftwood. I am so excited to play at the beach this summer. Our friend Erin and dogfriend Shakira joined us for fun in the sun.

Lucy loved getting close to Shakira.

Neal and Kelly stop by

Neal and Kelly stopped by on the way home from their annual Lutsen trip. Lucy was quick to show them all of her toys.
Neal may be getting one of these pink bird puppets for his birthday. He enjoyed playing with it long after Lucy moved on to other things.

Lucy and Kelly took a number of laps walking both the polar bear and puppy.

Neal gave Lucy and Elmo rides in the wagon. They were going SO fast they are blurry. (It may also be that our camera is having focusing issues.)

Lu showed them how Elmo rocks out. Needless to say they were very impressed.

Hello winter.

As many in the midwest know it's been a constant stream of snow for days now. It's been a sort of "instant winter". Lucy enthusiastically points and says "snow" over and over and over again. That's a lot of snow.

Her exact words, "uh oh Mama". We hear that phrase pretty often these days. It could mean that her pant leg is up or it could mean that something sticky is now all over the floor. It keeps the mystery alive.

Watching Ryan clear the sidewalks with the snow blower. We have been working on blowing on food when it's hot and Lucy was enthusiastic about using this skill whenever we talked about the snow blower. It must be so hard to learn the difference in these combinations of words. The snow banks are almost as big as she is.

There are paved streets under there somewhere.

Happy girl in the sled. Although ironically there is too much snow to use it well. We did most of our sledding on the sidewalk.

The birds were all a-flutter around our house today. We put some bird seed on the porch railing and waiting for them to come closer. One chickadee was brave enough before Lu was over sitting still.

Ryan discovered that Lu likes to be thrown into snow banks. Are you surprised? Although the skeptic in me (I've known him a long time) thought this was probably only 25% true - turns out he was right. Yes Ryan. You were right. Here she is mid-launch. See that grin?
