A wonderful amazing delicious lunch (crab chowder!) in Newport and some time with the sea lions....These are the males sea lions who come hang out during the winter and jockey for the best spot on these docks. It is loud and ridiculous. A combination of sea lion snuggling and sparring. Sucks to be a little dude in this situation...

That big cage is a new program to help injured sea lions. If one of them is entangled with something, like fishing gear, rehabbers can close the gate and help it without endangering anybody. I have no idea how they would actually do this however because the cage was chock full of sea lions. In this photo someone new is trying to squeeze in and the whole thing is going kitty wompus.
